3G & 4G Sports Surfaces

Regular preventative maintenance is key to extending the life of 3G & 4G sports surfaces as well as maximising playing and safety characteristics

While 3G & 4G pitches require much less maintenance than real grass, they still require some attention preferably from specialists like ourselves with over 20 years experience and expertise maintaining artificial sports surfaces.

Over a period of time your 3G & 4G pitches will need regular maintenance: from regular brushing away and vacuuming of debris, infill top-ups may be required, and after a while some rejuvenation may be needed after a prolonged period of hard use. For instance, repairing the base or replacing contaminated 3G & 4G pitch infill to prevent surface compaction.

To clean and groom the surface, redistributing infill, counteracting compaction and preventing drainage issues.

Over time the infill levels of the carpet that forms the playing surface can deplete. This can cause problems with the Carpet pile leading to ‘capping’ and premature pitch failure. Exterus Sport & Play can provide advice as to the correct level of infill and can perform top-ups as required.

Over time or occasionally due to correct maintenance not being performed at appropriate times, environmental factors can result in the infill needing to be either rejuvenated or replaced to bring the playing surface back to its optimum playing characteristics and to extend the life of the surface. Exterus Sport & Play use specialist machinery to perform these tasks and can provide our clients with our knowledge and advice as to when this is most appropriate.

Whilst the fibres of the playing surfaces are synthetic, moss and algae can build up over time. A regular preventative treatment for moss and algae growth can be helpful in maintaining the playing surface

Carpets can fail over time, resulting in tears, seam and line movement or replacement of sections of carpet. Contact us if this has become an issue with your playing surface.
